Plans for a Storage Shed

Gardening is a wonderful and rewarding pastime, and with gardening comes lots of tools and other supplies. If you are like me, I stumble around my garage trying to get in my car in the morning because I have all my gardening tools and supplies stored in the garage. A garden shed is a must for all gardeners because it is a great way to keep all your garden tools and supplies in one place, and out of your garage!

Without plans for a storage shed, your building project can turn into a serious mess in a hurry! Why not save yourself precious time and money by investing in a good storage shed plan before you attempt to build your own garden or storage shed?

DO NOT purchase any shed plan without first taking a look at Ryan Henderson’s MyShed Plans, a collection of 12,000 shed and woodworking plans.

Your Shed Plans Should be Created by an Expert

Save yourself some headaches and take advantage of an expert’s knowledge. Ryan Henderson knows a thing or two about storage sheds. In fact, Ryan has over 20 years of experience building outdoor storage buildings.

To make your building project more productive and enjoyable, Ryan has put together a complete package of plans and step-by-step instructions that will help you avoid the typical pitfalls associated with building your own storage shed.

Your Shed Plans Should Have Detailed Drawings and be Easy to Follow

The shed plans that Ryan has created have detailed drawings and take you through the process of building your storage shed step-by-step. Ryan’s plans are not some shoddy line drawings on a page with no construction information.

Your Shed Plans Should Come with a Complete Materials List

With every shed plan, Ryan includes a complete materials list, which will ultimately save you money when you go to purchase your lumber and supplies because you will be buying exactly what you need to complete your project. You won’t have to guess at what to buy and in what quantity.

How many projects have you started on a Saturday morning only to have to make multiple trips BACK to your local box store for additional supplies. Personally, that drives me absolutely crazy!

Ryan tells you precisely what you need to buy and in what quantities saving you time, frustration and money. With Ryan’s shed plans, you will buy the right materials the first time allowing you to get the job done and get on with what you really want to do!

These shed plans even come with instruction on suggested roofing materials and construction, which my friend, John, over at FNC Roofing Pros, says is a big plus.

Your Shed Plans Should Provide You with Options

Finally, your shed plans should allow for options. Maybe you want your shed fancier than the base shed plan. In My Shed Plans Elite, Ryan’s has complied a massive collection of shed plans from which to choose. With this massive collection of plans, you will have access to thousands of shed designs and other woodworking projects.

With Ryan’s storage shed plans, you are sure to be the envy of your neighborhood. Heck, you might even become the resident do-it-yourself-er on your block.

Just think about how awesome it will be to get all that gardening stuff out of your garage and packed neatly into your new garden storage shed. You might even be able to get your car back in the garage!

Ryan’s shed and woodworking projects are great for completing over holidays or long weekend with the family lending a hand.

Your Plans for a Storage Shed Should be Affordable

Ryan has worked extremely hard to make this massive collection of shed plans and woodworking plans extremely affordable for the typical homeowner.

For about the cost of a meal for (4) at McDonald’s, you can have access to 12,000 shed plans and other wood working projects as well as tons of other bonuses and tips.

I know, I know, if you are like me, you want to see it to believe it, so Ryan has even allowed me to share one of his complete shed blue-prints for a 12′ x 8′ storage building with you completely free!

This is not some crappy teaser plan with blurred pictured and spotty instructions. This is a complete 24 page shed plan that you can take and start building a storage shed the minute you print it off your computer–period.

My Ghetto No Dig Vegetable Garden

When I was a kid, my dad planted a large garden every year. It must have been around 1/4 of an acre and he would grow cabbage, English peas, potatoes, tomatoes, Silver Queen corn, okra, green beans, green peppers, banana peppers, radishes, onions, squash, and cucumbers.

Dad also had irrigation for his garden, and worked in the it every single day. I still remember how delicious all those fresh vegetables tasted when they started coming in!

Well, I live in a newer house and the soil around the property is extremely poor because they dumped the crummy soil around the house when they dug the footing.

So, I don’t have the large fertile plot of ground that daddy had, so I decided to try my own ghetto version of a no dig bag garden this year. I got the idea for this garden from an article I saw entitled “Start a Quick and Easy Food Garden,” in Mother Earth News.

This method is a kind of raised bed garden, so instead of tilling and trying to amend your existing soil, you simply place bags of garden soil on top of the ground and plant directly in the bags.

I went this morning to Lowe’s and bought four bags of garden soil, 2 cubic feet each. I cut a couple of holes in each bag and placed (2) cherry tomato plants in one bag, a couple of summer squash plants in one bag, a couple of cucumber plants in one bag and a red and green bell pepper plant in one bag.

I will continue to keep everyone updated as to the progress I have with my ghetto no dig vegetable garden. Stay tuned. 🙂

How to Design a Garden Water Feature

Why Not Build a Garden Water Feature

There is nothing more soothing than the sight, sound and scent of a garden water feature. A water feature is a great addition to your overall garden design.

With a little work and some good planning, you can end up with a garden water feature that will be an oasis for you and your family at the end of a tiring day. Imagine how wonderful it will be to sit around and listen to the gurgling water of your new backyard pond.

Garden Water Feature Design Considerations

Here are some basic thing to consider as you design your new backyard water feature.

    • As you start thinking about your new water feature, it is important to know that it is not the pond’s size that affects your budget, but the hardware and equipment used to create your water feature. Things such as a filtration system can add a fair amount of money to your budget.

    • Location, location, location. As with just about anything, location is important–and so it is with your garden water feature. You need to make sure that you locate your water feature where your family can readily enjoy it. Don’t stick your fountain or pond in the back corner of your yard where only the critters can enjoy it!

    • You want to make sure that you have at least 40% of your pond covered in shade, as this will cut down on problems with string algae. At the same time, make sure that you locate your pond away for the “drip line” of any neighboring trees.

    • Also, be sure to try to locate your pond where it will not receive runoff from the yard because you do not want chemicals and fertilizer washing into your pond.

    • Think about children. Do you have any small children or are there any small children in your neighborhood? Most local codes require a fence around a pond that is 18″ or deeper. It is a good idea to check with your local department of inspections to see what rules may apply to your project.
    • Consider building the largest pond possible for your budget because it will suddenly shrink when you start filling it with plants and fish.Interestingly enough, it is easier to control algae in a larger pond.

  • Call before you dig! Always check with local utilities before you dig. You do not want to dig up phone, power or cable lines while digging your pond.
